Happy LOL Day!

Good morning! Phew, it's been a while since I've blogged. I've been knee-deep in some personal projects and my free time has evaporated. I've missed you, readers!

Today is LOL Day. It's a really fun day we bloggers participate in, as it's a day we celebrate all of you who lurk and read our blogs but don't necessarily post. And we do our very best to get you to come out of hiding.

Come out, come out, wherever you are!

This was the discussion I had with Jason about LOL Day.

Me: "Hey, babe. Remember last year we had LOL Day on the blog?"

Him: ::grunts in reply:: (Have you ever noticed Doms grunt a lot in reply?)

Me: "Well, I'm thinking of participating again. What do you think?"

Him: "Do it." (Have you ever noticed Doms are very direct?)

Me: "Okay. What about me writing on other blogs? I'm still not allowed, right?"

Him: "NO writing on other blogs." (It's a safety thing -- my apologies to my fellow bloggers. Know I support you anyway!)

Me: "Well, last year, you offered to answer some questions. You haven't written for the blog in a while. What do you think? Want to do it again?"

Him: "Sure. I'll answer anything they ask."

Me: "We might get some mean questions like we did last year."

Him: ::looking stern and formidable:: "Who cares?" (Ever notice how sexy stern and formidable can look? lol)

Me: "Alrighty, then."

So, there ya go. I'm sending my love and support to my fellow bloggers today!

And a big shout out to my readers.

Do you have any questions you'd like to ask The Boss?

And I'd like to make a contibution of my own. I know some of you enjoy reading in the DS genre. For every TEN people who post to the blog, I will post a ds-themed work of fiction or poetry I've written.

Thank you SO much for all of your support. We love you, lurkers!

  2. Hello, Jan! I've wondered how you were. Thank you so much for your support! I agree, it is a shame I can't visit other blogs. I almost chose not to participate in LOL day because of it, as I know it's considered bad blogging etiquette not to comment on other blogs. I hope you all understand. But I wanted to thank my lurkers, and participate in the fun. I hope you have a great LOL day. :)

  5. Hi! First I wanted to say thank you for writing and sharing your experiences. It has been a great resource as my husband and I start our dd journey.

My question for Jason is, What are 3 things that Jgirl did in the beginning of your relationship that enhanced and made you feel more comfortable in your role as Hoh?

  7. Hi JG, happy LOL Day! I still enjoy reading your blog a lot and if you are not allowed to visit other blogs, that's just the way it is, but try not to worry too much about that. I am glad that you participated in LOL Day, otherwise I would never have known how universal grunts are. :)

I do feel badly, as I think it appears rude or snobbish. But I respect Jason's decision as well.

  14. Happy LOL Days JG! Are you not allowed to visit other blogs at all or just not allowed to comment? If it's the latter, would you please ask the Boss why you couldn't at least comment anonymously on other blogs?

    Hugs and Blessings...

    1. Hi, Cat! Happy LOL day to you!

I can answer this one, though I'll ask Jason and he can explain his reasoning as well.

SImply put, a blog owner has the ability to track the location of blog readers -- both those who comment and those who read, anonymously or not. I didn't know this but found out last year when I had a blog "stalker" who was constantly and ruthlessly posting horrible things. It happened to begin the exact day I was robbed, and although I think it's unlikely the two incidents are linked, I freaked out. So I looked into it, and discovered that if I wanted to block this person from reading my blog (which I successfully did), I could find their location.

After that incident, I can honestly say I never used the tracking system again, out of respect for my readers, though I still have the ability to in case something like that happens again.

So because of the potential for danger, remote though it may be, I'm not allowed to read or comment on any blogs anymore.

I hope that clears things up. Thanks for stopping by. :)

  18. Hey, JGirl! Long time lurker here. I love your blog! Your openness and honesty is encouraging and fun to read. My favorite posts are when you post personal interactions between you and Jason, such as conversations or HOH-y moments. I wish you would post more often, though! I'm looking forward to your stories!

  26. Hi Jason's Girl,
I discovered your blog a while back and have commented on occasions. I am always impressed by your honest, eloquent and often thought-provoking writing.

It is unfortunate that you are not allowed to visit other blogs would love to hear you thoughts on some of my posts.

Regardless, I was under the impression that anonymous comments were just that - without any way of tracking...if you sign up to follow a blog anonymously that is something else.

    All the best,
    Enzo

    1. Hi, Enzo, Thank you. I always enjoy your comments and support of my writing and sharing our d/s lifestyle.

I, too, wish I could visit other blogs. Maybe some time, but we will see.

As far as tracking readers, you're correct that Blogger itself doesn't allow much of any tracking -- none for anonymous readers or commenters. However, there are third-party resources (such as Statcounter) that DO allow tracking of even anonymous readers and commenters. With this free resource that anyone can use, a blogger has the ability to track the city, state, and IP address of anyone who views the blog.

As I mentioned above, I've only ever used this tool when I had threats posted to the blog, to track the IP address of the person threatening us (who did, of course, post anonymously). I was able to successfully locate their location, and made a note of both location and IP address, in case I ever had to contact the police. After blocking their ability to read my blog, I kept the third-party access, but have never used it to track any other readers or commenters.

However, knowing any blogger has the ability to do this made me and Jason very leery, and even then for a while I read anonymously and commented on a few that I knew better and trusted. But then some other unsettling things happened and Jason said "no more."

  28. Hi Jason's Girl

I love your Blog! thanks for sharing a part of your life with us! my question would be, I understand from a TIH/Sub perspective what we get from Dd but i'm always curious to hear from the HoH/Dom what they get from this dynamic?

    Thanks,
    Lexi

  29. I have a question, I have a question...well several actually. I am curious about the first time Jason spanked anybody...what what that like and what was he thinking? Second...or third, depending on how you count...what was he thinking the first time he had to punish you? Finally, how does he deal with having that much responsibility as HOH?
